First, transfer to Gangaikondacholapuram, home to the magnificent Brihadeeswarar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. This 10th-century temple is one of the largest in India and exemplifies the grandeur of Dravidian architecture from the Chola dynasty. The intricately sculpted idol of Nandi is designed to reflect sunlight into the sanctum, enhancing its divine aura.
Next, continue to Darasuram, renowned for the Airavateswara Temple, built by Rajaraja Chola II in the 12th century. Explore the village of silk weavers, where you can witness the traditional craft of silk weaving.
Following this, drive to Kumbakonam, known as a temple city for its numerous sacred shrines. Upon arrival, visit the Adi Kumbeswarar Temple, the oldest Shiva temple in the area, along with the Sarangapani Temple and the Mahamaham Tank, one of Kumbakonam's most prominent landmarks.
Next, proceed to Thanjavur, where you will visit the iconic Brihadeshwara Temple, a symbol of Tanjore. This temple is a masterpiece of classical Dravidian architecture, featuring a mandapa and a spacious room leading to the central sanctum.
